I would suggest that you plan for 45 days; That could possibly be the length of time needed to restore law and order after the election and following chaos.

Preparedness Suggested List:

   Water: Bottled water at a minimum has a 2 year shelf life

   Food: Go for food with a long shelf life - 

• White rice indefinite if sealed and stored properly, and is a good carb source
• Beef jerky has a two year shelf life and is a good source of protein
• Dried fruit lasts 6 months to 1 year
• Dried vegetables last 3 to 6 months, or longer
• Canned meat and vegetables last up to 5 years
• Cereal lasts several months
• Powdered milk lasts up to 18 months
• Protein bars last up to 1 month
• Canned and bottled juices (Apple juice lasts up to 3 months)
• Honey has an indefinite shelf life
• Dried beans last 1 year or more
• Grits last 1 year
• Flour lasts approximately 8 months
• Sugar lasts indefinitely, but best used within 2 years
• Pasta lasts up to 2 years

   Medication: Have enough stored for at least 45 days. Should include the following (not an all

   inclusive list):

• Multivitamins
• Tylenol/Advil
• Aspirin
• Nausea control
• Any prescription medications you and your family members take daily
• Any extra antibiotics
• Natural or herbal supplements to help fight infections

   Household Supplies: Miscellaneous household supplies include (but are not limited to):

• Toilet paper
• Hygiene products
• Soaps and shampoos
• Tooth paste, toothbrush, mouthwash, floss
• Baking soda (can be used as a cleaning agent for dishes, teeth, etc.)
• Bleach
• Rubbing alcohol
• First aid kit
• Guns, ammo, self defense weapons
• *Other items to consider for parents: diapers, wipes, formula, etc.
• *Other items to consider for pets: pet food, leash, crate, etc.

   Outdoor Supplies: Miscellaneous items you may need in the event you need to leave your

   home:

• Gas grill (extra gas canisters for cooking/boiling water/etc.)
• Lighter and matches (preferably waterproof)
• Generator
• Extra gasoline (short term use) & gas cans (longer term use)
• Flashlights & extra/rechargeable batteries (or solar powered flashlights)
• Solar powered charging ports
• Handcrank radio
• Sleeping bag/mat, blankets, tent/tarp
